Why using the chopping board that was used for cutting meat is gross

It’s now new that it is easy to get foodborne illnesses from meat. If your cutting board was used to cut raw meat on it, you should probably avoid using it. If you are preparing a salad and cut your cucumbers on the “meaty” cutting board, the bacteria from the meat can contaminate your vegetables. Then your fresh, healthy salad (well, the ugly bacteria on it) can end up causing you a very bad foodborne illness.
